On Tuesday 19th October, Carrieann went to see the oncologist with james and JJ. He was very pleased to inform Carrieann that the treatment was working! The cancer is dying and she has the all clear! At last some good news that the battle is being won. She has to return in the new year for tests to make sure it has stayed away, and again in july.
Mum Teresa went in for her surgery on the 27th October to have the skin cancer removed from her hand and leg. Unfortunately two children were brought in needing emergency surgery, so mum did not get it done. She is ok with this and they will call her back when they can.
In the meantime, Mum , jim me bandit and cat all flew to see my sister in spain for my nephews 18th birthday. She lives up a mountain and is an ideal spot to get in some seriously short but steep walks. She has a 1 in 10 hill opposite her villa so i made use of it twice a day, as well as walking around the area.
My sister paula invited us to join her family on the locals trip to Moclin in granada to a museum, church, castle and then for a meal after a SHORT 45 min walk.
We ended up doing about 12km in the blazing sun with no water in the middle of nowhere and ended up in Puerto lope at a large hotel. The coach found us after a call to mum and jim at paulas villa to find a contact number so we could ask the coaches to come and save us lol!
We had watched the coaches take the road we had followed from the top of the mountain, when they had gone past us. We had even asked the coach drivers for directions and followed them.( paula and her husband, and two boys all speak spanish fluently) We also asked locals in the village of Tiena as we passed through, and they had directed us the same way. I am sure they did it on purpose lol.
We never did get our meal. We got back to our cars and headed straight for the bar, who quickly did us egg n chips and cold drinks before heading home for a shower and bed!
Following morning i was expecting to be as stiff and as sore as anything, but i was fine. Poor clive had blisters on blisters the size of his whole heel bless him.
It was a brilliant kickstart for me tho, and ive walked a few miles each day since to try and keep on top of it, and build on it.
